Animation weight practice

Started a little weight animation for this new rig I've been playing with, managed to get this far in just a couple of hours after figuring out how I wanted it to look and deciding that I wanted it to loop. So far not a lot of frames in there, I have the base of what I want it to look like and all I need now is to refine it more and add more details including facial animation and more subtle nuances, but that will come as I learn the rig a bit more.

Milestone 1

Timing is still a bit off too especially during the chest pound, but that'll come next. so far it's been fun and I've been enjoying this rig and trying to learn it since its not the same as my school rigs.

Voice clip Animation

This is my first attempt at lip syncing and overall I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I reworked the ending more times than I could count but the final arm flick is something that I am really happy with.

Cliff Animation Final

Finally finished my first project for the month and I'm ready to start the next one. This project has been a blast to work on, I learned a lot about anticipation and getting moving holds to look even better than before. I had a lot of fun with facial expressions and getting the timing of the animation down.

Cliff Animation - Work in Progress part 2

Put a couple more hours in to the animation. Messed around with the curves and fixed a lot of issues such as the leg locking out during the scare. Been having a lot of fun with this guy and I'll probably post the final soon.

Cliff animation - Work In Progress

I've been working on a pantomime animation for class and decided to post up how it's looking so far. Just finished blocking it out and started adding in more details today. Got a long way to go, but over all I'm happy with the progress.

Quick walk cycle

Made a quick walk cycle today for a practical, knocked it out in about an hour. Just a simple 3 contact walk with only the first stride being completed

Some Fundamentals

I found some animations from my first animation class, some pretty basic stuff but overall stuff that i'm proud of.

An upper body animation of a box push

The Kick, which was our final for the class

WIP - Run cycle

A simple run cycle that I've been working on. This is just the beginning, I still need to work in the graph editor some more and then on to extending it.

VSD Final

So the month is nearing its end and we are finishing up our lighting and shading project. I learned a lot of really cool things about the hypershade and now i know that there are so many more possibilities that just painting textures on a model.

so here is the original out of maya

this is the final result of the project straight out of maya that we then introduced into nuke, sadly I only have the ple version so I had to deal with the confetti but it was still a good learning experience.

once everything was composited together I tried some color correction especially on the caustic light from the bottle and using a depth render from maya I added some nice defocus effects as well.

again sorry for the confetti

All in all I had a lot of fun with these projects especially with the projections on the box, I got to go all out and put as much paint and dirt as I had time for.

Close up of the bottle

Lighting and Shading Project

Here is a simple project that we've been working on in class. Learning a lot about materials and cool new tools to use in maya and with MIA Materials.

It's been a lot of fun and I can honestly see myself using a lot of this in the future. I will be updating this blog with the image after I put it through post.

CAN 1 - Walk with Turn around

Another simple walk cycle, just the hips no upper body (that will come at the end of the month). I included a turn around to the animation and I think it came out alright though their is always room for improvement.

Just a playblast this time.

Troll Rigging Project for CRI2

Here is the finished Playblast for my Rigging project in CRI2.

I really enjoyed working on this project. While the jiggle gave me a load of odd problems I managed to work through them in the end. I really enjoyed working with Mocap data and it was actually a lot easier than I thought when it was all said and done.

we also had to complete a single frame render of the character using Maya's fur system.

Gave the Troll some mighty eyebrows.

The system is really robust and has a lot of settings to mess around with which was a lot of fun. I had some problems with getting the center of the brow's color to look just right but over all I am very happy with the results. It was a lot of fun to shape and change the fur around to get it to do what I needed it to do.

I want to thank Ken for being an awesome teacher. I know I still need a lot of practice but you made rigging a lot of fun.
